The McCann Trophy sponsored by Mortgage IQ was played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
The weather remained dry throughout the day although a changing wind was making play difficult at times.
At halfway in this Greensomes competition Shawn Pedlow and his playing partner Michael Brown playing off a combined handicap of 10 were leading by one point from the James McClintock and Thomas McNeill pairing playing off 13.
Jackson Minford/Brian McFall (21) were another point behind followed by Philip Magill and Trevor Galloway (19) and Robin Deane and Philip Smyth (16).
A further point behind came the Jim Millar/James McKay (22) pairing and Ciaran Diherty and Mervyn Foster (10) followed by Brian McFall jnr. and Matthew Reid (7).
Pedlow and Brown were joined by Magill and Galloway at eleven after a birdie and a par and they remained together through The Maple.
Magill and Galloway led by one point up the Grove from an improving Deane and Smyth with another improving pair Millar and McKay making their presence felt, joining Minford and McFall and McClintock and McNeill another point behind. Doherty and Foster were a further point down with Pedlow and Brown falling back after a run of three bogeys joined by McFall jnr. and Reid another point behind.
Magill and Galloway maintained their lead with a par, bogey over the closing two holes to win by two points from Minford and McFall (par, bogey).
Deane and Smyth lost their chance of winning with a ‘ding’ at the last after a par at the Lowlands and Millar and McKay took advantage of this mishap and joined them with a double bogey, par finish. Third place went to Millar and McKay with a better back nine with Deane and Smyth in fourth place.
One point behind the placings came the McClintock/McNeill, McFall jnr./Reid, Doherty/Foster and Pedlow/Brown pairings.
