Members of Galgorm Castle Golf Club ladies’ section recently enjoyed Lady Captain’s Day, one of the showpiece days on their calendar.
The Lady Captain, Mrs Bernie Daly welcomed her fellow lady golfers and guests from early morning, and they enjoyed a fantastic day playing the prestigious Galgorm course.
The course was in superb order and conditions were perfect for a day of high scoring and hospitality.
A stop off at McQuillan’s Lodge gave the ladies an opportunity to share stories about their great, and perhaps not so great, shots whilst the generous supply of drinks and food re-energized them for the back nine.
Before enjoying afternoon tea, each lady had the opportunity to enter a fun putting competition which was won by Norma Richardson.
In the Lady Members competition, the overall winner was Tricia Blaney, who retained her title from last year with an excellent score of 37 points. The gross prize was won by Debbie McCooke.
Section A winner was Jenny McCooke, Section B was won by Julie Murray and Section C won by last year’s lady captain, Noreen Ritchie.
Other winners on the day included Debbie McCooke for the longest drive, Roisin Gillan for nearest the pin, Elaine Fitzsimmons with the best front 9 and Alison Kearney for the best back 9.
The Past Captain’s Prize was won by Dorothy Latimer and the Committee Prize by Roberta McFarland.
Of the guests, the overall winner was Siobhan Talbot with a better back nine over Ann Dolan. Similarly in the men’s 9 hole competition, Tim Roddy won with a better back nine over Willie Park. The overall Winner of the ladies 9 Hole Competition was Karen Patten.
Two ladies, Kerry Dunlop and June Irvine, scored a two at the 7th hole.
The evening finished with a superb meal at the Eagle Bar & Grill and some very enjoyable entertainment.
All present would like to thank the Lady Captain, Mrs Bernie Daly, for her hard work and generosity in hosting a very successful and highly enjoyable Lady Captain’s Day at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
