Ballymena Cricket Club’s Third XI picked up their third win of the season against Bangor Thirds last week.
Batting first, Ballymena had a good start with a brisk 46 run opening partnership between Andy Lytle and Anthony Frazer.
After the openers were dismissed, Matthew Dick and Jack Archer continued to make good progress with numerous boundaries.
After Matthew Dick was dismissed for 28, Ryan Crooks joined Archer and they saw Ballymena through to 184 in 30 overs with Archer finishing on a well made 62, including several sixes.
Bangor’s reply began slowly with Ballymena opening bowlers Owen Dick and Johnny Brown bowling very economically, conceding just 14 runs in their combined 12 overs and taking a wicket each. It was an excellent bowling display from both players.
After this start Bangor were well behind the run rate.
Wickets fell regularly with Chris Pettigrew picking up two wickets, Declan O’Boyle two and Jack Archer three.
Bangor finished on 107 as Ballymena won by 77 runs.
This was a pleasing result after the disappointment of losing to North Down by just three runs in their previous fixture.
The Thirds have now won three from six league games and look to pick up another win against Woodvale this Saturday.
