The Rallysport Association Winter Championship 2015/2016 continues in style with a superb entry expected of over 100 drivers this weekend.
The penultimate round of the chanpionship takes place on Sunday the 21st February with a return to The Nutts Corner Motorsport Centre for another Race Sprint event and it is going to be another absolute cracker.
The action will be electric as we will see a diverse range of fantastic machinery including the popular superbike engined Rage, Semog and Speedcar race buggies and race cars, some superb Escorts and Corollas, turbocharged Subarus and Mitsubishis, 106 Peugeots, Saxos, Honda Civics and the ever popular Vauxhall Novas and Corsas.
The junior Nova Challenge championship has been dominated so far by young William Graham who on current form looks a certain contender for this year’s winter championship although he is being pushed hard all the way by local Ballinderry lad Chris Grant in his Nova.
Ballymoney’s Neil Capper is in joint fourth position in Class 3 and Kevin Kelly, whose family farm is only a few minutes from Nutts Corner is having a great run in the series and leads class 4 in his Citroen Saxo by the slender margin of 6 points. Templepatrick hot shot David Christie and Jamie Grant also from Ballinderry sit second and third respectively in Class 5
The Class 6 leading position is the current domain for Niall Carey from Cushendall in his BMW Compact but he too has still a lot to do to remain there after the final round at Aghadowey in March.
The increase in popularity of the superbike engined race buggys now means they are divided into three separate classes for the 600, 750 and 1000cc and are always a delight with the spectators.
With an admission fee of only £10 for adults and teenagers (family deals are available) and with under twelve’s and seniors only a £5, what better way to enjoy your weekend. The action which starts at 10.30 and runs through to 4.30pm.
