Ballymena girls first on grid for Miss North West 200 contest

First on the grid for this year’s Morellis backed Miss North West 200 competition are Ballymena girls Shannon Harris and Laura Phillips.

Travel advisor Shannon and Dog’s Trust assistant Laura are the competition’s first entrants which this year is supported by iconic cafe, restaurant and ice cream parlour, Morellis of Portstewart. Shannon and Laura are pictured tucking into famous Morellis ice creams as they help roll out details of this year’s contest which will be held in the Relentless NW200 Marquee on Tuesday 15th May at 7.30pm.

Miss NW200 2012 organiser Brian Moore said that the competition has already attracted huge interest. “To date we have received an unprecedented tally of entries and I would urge prospective Miss NW200s to email details as soon as possible as lists are set to close imminently.” To enter email [email protected] or send a S.A.E to “Miss North West 200, PO Box 40, Portstewart, BT55 7NU.” The winner of Miss NW200 2012 will receive a holiday for two, a free portfolio from NI Live Vision, a range of cosmetics and will share the winner’s rostrum on Race Day with the world’s top motorbike stars.

Damian Morelli said, “Alongside the North West 200 Morellis has been a key tourism attraction in the North Coast region for decades and following our ‘Cento Anni’ celebrations last year which marked 100 years of business we wanted to get involved in Ireland’s top outdoor sporting event. The Miss North West 200 contest in association with Morellis of Portstewart will be held on Tuesday 15th May at 7.30pm following Tuesday’s Practice Session and will be hosted by top TV presenter Adrian Logan and Brian Moore. On stage after Miss NW200 is crowned is well known party band, Brian Giffen and the Untouchables as part of Race Week Festival’s Live at the paddock series.

The Relentless International Race Week Festival kicks off on Saturday 12th May, Practice takes place on Tuesday 15th and Thursday 16th May 9.30am to 2.30pm, Thursday Race Evening 5.30pm to 9pm and Race Day 10am to 6.30pm.
