BALLYMENA MAN WINS SHANE CUP

Some 94 riders took advantage of the perfect weather last Saturday, when the locally based Mid Antrim Motorcycle club organised the Shane Cup Trial, at Shilnavogy, near Broughshane.

Fittingly, it was a local man, in William Dickey, who ran out as the overall winner. He dropped just 20 marks during the days event, while second and third needed a tie break to separate them.

Losing 31 marks, Robert Crawford and Jonny Lunney tied, but with 37 cleans to the 29 of Lunney, Crawford was declared the runner up. In the Semi Expert class Mark Harris took the win. With 20 penalties he was 11 ahead of Jake Hanlon, while third position went to John Millar with 44 dabs.

Manx rider Graham Christianson made the trip worthwhile when he took a close fought win in the Clubmans category.

The Sportsmans grade competed over 4 laps of 10 sections. Jonny Smith took the overall win in this one, with Alistair Galloway and David Glasgow tying for runner up.

George Taylor took the Youth A class, while Youth B went to Reece Gazzard. Jay Pyper was the best of the C Grade riders.

MONDELLO THIS WEEKEND

The first tarmac action of the short circuit season gets under way this Sunday at Mondello Park.

Sadly, I have no information with regard to the meeting, other than it was the opening round of the ISB series.

CLADY CLUB AUTOJUMBLE

Just a quick reminder that the 23rd Great Northern Autojumble will be held this Friday, 27th.

In a break from the tradition of recent years, the event will move away from Muckamore Abbey and will now take place at St. Clares Community Centre, Chapel Road, Glenavy. Further, it will just be held on the Friday, getting under way at 9.30am till 4.15pm.
