No change in league as pool Festival begins

Michelin Inbetweeners responded to their Ballymena Towers Pool League drubbing by Connolly's in style;e as they whitewashed Coach 6-0 in last week's matches.

But they failed to gain any ground on Connolly’s after the Dunvale side also won 6-0 against Fairhill Rockets.

Fairhill Rockets 0, Connolly’s Meatballs 6: The league leaders were in devastating form and did not drop a single frame after wins for Ian Boal, Dee Irwin, Alan Davidson, Pat McAnally, Don McKeown and Ryan Foster. POM - Dee Irwin.

Minnesota Inbetweeners 6, Coach 0: Mark Higgins got the Inbetweeners off to the perfect start with a 2-0 win over Malcolm Graffin before Gary Ormandy and Dessie Cooper made the match score 3-0 with wins in straight frames. Phil Houston increased the lead for the Inbetweeners with a 2-1 win over Chris Gordon. In the final two games the Inbetweeners lost the opening frame only to battle back and win 2-1 their winners being Gareth Rowe and Craig Loughran who defeated Robert Artt and Frazer Young. Social Club 1, Towers Tavern 5: Dean Greer got Towers off to a flying start with a 2-1 win over Marc McMullan and Drew Sloan made the match score 2-0 for the Towers with a win in straight frames over Albert McBride. Then Allan Agnew had a 2-0 win over Shane Moody for the Social Club to leave the match score at 2-1 for the Towers. The final three games all followed the same pattern with 2-0 wins for the Towers, through James Millar, K.D. Crabbe and David Millar. POM - Alan Agnew.

Michelin Masters 4, Moat B 2: Chris Penny put the Masters ahead with a 2-1 win over Eddie Maxwell but then the Moat hit back with William Wilson having a 2-1 win over Brian Hanna in spite of losing the first frame and Dean Robinson then put the Moat ahead with a win in straight frames against Rick McMaster. Alan Armstrong then levelled the match at 2-2 with a 2-0 win over Aaron Browne. Moat only had four players and this resulted in walk over wins for David Armstrong and Jimmy Knowles. FESTIVAL OF POOL

The focus now switches to the annual Ballymena Festival of Pool which started last weekend and runs until February 21 with various individual and team events.
