Randalstown plunder a dozen goals in remarkable win

The Armagh side started the more brightly of the two teams however it was Kerry Coulter who got on the score sheet first when she capitalised on a defensive error to open the scoring.

This was followed by a goal mouth scramble off a drag flicked corner which was initially saved by the keeper with Sharon and Nicole sharing the finish. Armagh came back strongly scoring a straight strike from a short corner and a penalty stroke that was awarded late into the first half. Nicole Moore put Randalstown into the lead just as the half time whistle sounded.

Strong words from coach McNeill motivated the girls into an epic second half scoring an astounding 9 goals with the goals coming from Emma Patterson, Katherine McDowell, CJ McDonald, Jayne McGrillen, Sharon Graham, Alex Ogliby and a hatrick from Zoe Wilson. The game ended up abruptly when an Armagh player suffered from a head injury and everyone would like to wish her a speedy recovery.

Randalstown II 0, Ards II 5: Randalstown struggled to gain a foot hold in the game in the first half and were three nil down at the half time break.

The second half saw a much improved performance from the girls in green while Ellie Kyle in the Randalstown goals had a superb debut and made some excellent saves to keep Ards at bay however could do little to prevent two further goals. Randalstown IV 2, Banbridge III 2: Randalstown went ahead when Laura Elliott crossed the ball through Banbridge’s circle, which was met by Kerrie Reid who buried it past the keeper but Banbridge equalised just before half-time.

In the second half, Jacqueline Robinson made a quick run down the wing, crossed to Holly Steele-Nicholson who whizzed the ball into the back of the net but again the Town girl conceded a late equaliser.
