SLIDESHOW: Mini hockey festival a big success

More 30 teams compete at this year’s annual Ballymena Hockey Club Mini and Junior Tournament tournament at the Showgrounds recently.

Teams representing the hos club, Owls, Coleraine, Larne and Rainey took part, in age groups from P5 through to Year 9.

Ballymena’s continuing success with this section and boasted a total of 18 teams who were hopeful of winning several of the age categories.

In Primary 5 Ballymena Falcons won the group with Ballymena Eagles in second place. Primary 6, after a group playoff, which couldn’t separate the teams, was shared between Coleraine and Rainey.

Primary 7 was won by Rainey with Ballymena Royals in second place.

In the Junior section, Year 8 winners were the Ballymena Comets, with Larne A in second place.

And the Year 9 section was won by Ballymena Storm with Ballymena Thunder in second place.

The Club would like to thank Mrs Kathy Simpson from Michelin for presenting the awards and indeed Michelin PLC for their continued support in respect of the youth Section.
