Sponsorship boost for snooker league

The League will now be sponsored by Arkmedia and it is hoped that the group may also sponsor another trophy possibly the Knockout Cup this season also.

In the only league action last week in Division Two, Triangle Allstars had a couple of good home wins in rearranged matches to storm to the top of the league table.

In the first game with Dunloy Cowboys Sammy Walker had a good win over a tough opponent in Randal McDonnell and Adrian McGonagle doubled the Coleraine teams advantage with a win over Gerard McAuley.

Danny Tweed added a third point for the Allstars with a win over John Joe O’Neill before Aidan McErlaine gained the Cowboys point with a win over Melvin Graham.

Later in the week the Allstars entertained the visiting Parochial Lions and Ronnie McCart’s team returned to Ballymena with nothing to show for their night’s valiant efforts.

Adrian McGonagle and Danny Tweed both won close deciding frames against Rodney McAleese and Dennis Curran and Melvin Graham eased through a third frame decider over Anthony Mitchell with a bit to spare.

Sammy Walker’s win over Billy Goodall completed a 4-0 win for the Allstars who move into sole possession of top spot in Division 2

Last week also saw the start of the Doubles competition in the Minnesota club with 8 pairs of players advancing to the Quarter Final stages in the Fountain club in the New year.
