SPORTS AWARDS: Wheelchair basketball star Katie enjoys fantastic Knight

The Cullybackey College pupil, who received her prize from David Simpson, of sponsors Wilson’s of Rathkenny, has become an integral part of the Knights wheelchair basketball club’s senior and junior teams in regional, Irish and Great Britain competitions.

Her meteoric progress saw her make her international debut for Great Britain’s under-25 team in Beijing last summer.

There, against the might of China, Australia, Canada, Germany and Japan, they beat all opposition, returning home with a gold medal.
