Those present to represent the CFFC were Louise Montgomery and Andrew Boal while those from BRC were Geoff Allen, Hazel Hughes, Nigel Kernohan, Neil Kerr and John McKillop.

A spokesperson for the Billy Kerr Sportive organising committee said: “£3000 has been raised for Cancer Fund for Children from the Billy Kerr Sportive 2015. Thanks to everybody who contributed, those who took part and a special thanks to Billy Kerr’s son Neil who raised another £1400 by himself for the same charity. This brought the total amount attributed to the event to £4400”

EILEEN HONOURED

There was National recognition for the achievements of Ballymena Road Club’s multi championship winner and Irish 10 miles time trial record holder Eileen Burns last Saturday evening.

This time Eileen was named as Irish cycling’s female rider of the year. This was mainly in recognition of her beating the Irish record for the 10 miles time trial. Eileen established a new record of 20 minutes 22 seconds on a Humberside course in September.

A delighted Eileen said: “I won the best domestic based Irish female rider. This is a national award which is voted for by cycling Ireland licence holders. I was nominated by Cycling Ulster with voting taking place from the 5th-17th November. Many thanks to everyone who voted for me.”
