Swimmers ‘Seal’ impressive victory

BALLYMENA Swimming Club welcomed Swilly Seals, of Letterkenny, to the Seven Towers Leisure Centre recently.

As this was the last home gala of the season the Ballymena team was bigger than usual with some new or less familiar faces included in the team.

The first race of the evening, a medley relay, had both teams screaming encouragement.

Ballymena won comfortably and by the end of the relays had a 16 point lead.

In the individual events Ballymena continued to pile up the points and although Swilly started a fight back in the freestyle and Individual Medley events, the damage had been done and Ballymena consolidated the win, taking five of the final eight relays to score 600 points to Swilly’s 541.

A total of 48 PBs were shared amongst 32 Ballymena swimmers.

Best performance was by Roisin Ferris who had a clean sweep of five PBs in fierce competition with an excellent Swilly adversary.
