Towers League individual titles are decided

DREW Sloan, Lee Wright and Stewart Frew claimed the major honours as the individual competitions in the Ballymena Towers League section of the Ballymena Festival of Pool were played last week.

Former Northern Ireland international Sloan, who plays for Michelin Masters, won the coveted Premier Division Individual title, beating Minnestoa Eight-Ballers' Ryan Foster 5-4 in a thrilling final.

The Division One decider was no less exciting with Wright (Social Sports) seeing off Alan Rainey (Moat Aces) by the odd frame in seven.

With a disappointing turnout of only six players for the seniors competition, it was decided to play the tournament on a round-robin basis, after which the points totals were: Stewart Frew (Inn-Offs) 13; George Crothers (Moat Aces) 10; Jimmy Duffy (Moat Aces) 9; Dick Turtle (Social Sports) 7; May Barr (Social Sports) 5; Dennis Keenan (Social Sports) 1.

That meant the final was between Stewarty Frew and George Crothers and the Inn-Offs player's good form continued with a 3-0 win.
