Trevor plays it clever to secure Robinson's Nisa stableford victory

The Robinson's Nisa Extra sponsored Stableford was played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club and after the front nine Trevor Fleming was in front.

He led by two points from David Stirling jnr (4) with Michael Brown (9) and Jonathan McNeill (2) a further point behind.

Two and four points further back came Tony Dodds (21) and Lyle Foster (9) respectively. An eagle three at the Fort, a birdie at The Maple with two pars in between and Stirling jnr had taken the lead by one point over Fleming.

Fleming parred four of the last holes to win Overall by four points from Dodds in the Overall Runner-Up position. Brown finished a point behind and won Division 1. Second place went to McNeill with a better back nine and Stirling jnr finished in third place. Foster won the Seniors.

In Division 2 at halfway John McClintock (15) held a one point advantage from Robert Young (12). David Brown (15)

was another point behind with Neil Fitzsimmons (14) and Ronnie Taylor (14) a further point away. Adam Martin (15) and Tont Carroll (11) were at one and two points respectively further behind.

Through the Lowlands and with one to play McClintock had moved further ahead to lead by four points. Brown came next two further points ahead of Carroll, Fitzsimmons, Taylor, Young and an improved Martin. John McClintock ‘dinged’ the last but held on to win by two points from Brown (bogey). Martin (par) finished third another point behind.

Trevor Todd (16) and Joe Barr (17) reached the turn in Division 3 a point ahead of Seamus Laverty (16) and Keith Dinsmore (18) with William Kennedy (19) a further two points back.

Up the Grove Dinsmore and Laverty had taken the lead by one point from Barr and Todd with Kennedy a further two points behind. In a very close and exciting finish only one point separated the five players. Dinsmore (two bogeys) and Laverty (two bogeys) finished together and with a better back six Laverty won with Dinsmore second. Barr (two bogeys), Todd (double bogey, par) and a late rush from Kennedy with two pars finished together and with a better back nine third place went to Kennedy.

Setting out on the homeward half in Division 4 John Fitzgerald (20) was leading by one point from Ian Stewart (19) followed by Timothy Roddy (24) another point behind. Two further points back were Ivan McCappin (22) and Mervyn Lamont (21). After The Maple Fitzgerald was leading by two points from new challenger Stewart who was two points ahead of Roddy and McCappin with Lamont falling back another three points down.

Fitzgerald (‘ding’ at the Grove) increased his lead to three points over Stewart who also failed to score at the Grove and was joined by McCappin. Two further points back came Roddy (‘ding’ at fourteen) and Lamont. Fitzgerald came home with another ‘ding’ and a par to win by two points from Stewart (two bogeys) with McCappin (‘ding’, par) third.

Michael Reid (-2) won the Gross.
