However it was a great season for the youth section as a whole. The Under 14s reached the Shield semi-final and came second in their league.

Despite an injury ravaged season the Under 18s had a creditable mid-table finish in the league and also went through to contest a semi-final in the Under 18 Shield.

The investment in coaching and Community Development at BRFC has seen the section grow to be one of the strongest in Ulster. Seven players are currently with Ulster Development Squads.

The success of the youth programme at Eaton Park was recognised with the presentation of the Ulster Carpets - April Club of the Month Award.

This award was given to the youth rugby section for the excellence of their youth and community programme both on and off the field.

The section also gained recognition internally with Youth Convener, Don Pattison being presented with the Millar/McBride Award which recognises outstanding services to rugby.

Ballymena Youth are looking forward to more success next season.
