United u-17s still waiting for first win

THE new-look Ballymena United under-17 side – an amalgamation of Ballymena United Youth Academy and Carniny Youth players at that age group – is still seeking its first win of the season after a 1-0 defeat by Ards on Saturday.

Ballymena, who travelled to Lisburn with a skeleton squad, started brightly with Scullion and McLaughlin causing the Ards defence problems, but it was Ards who scored first after 14 minutes when they were awarded a free kick which they converted when the Ballymena defence failed to clear.

Ballymena pushed hard for the equaliser and Manson went close on 20 minutes but his shot went wide, Scullion then had a chance after but his shot also missed the target.
