Welcome funding boost for Ballymena RFC Bears

BALLYMENA Bears received a perfect Christmas present from the Triangle Housing Association charitable Giving Group recently.

A grant for £405 means that the team will be able to purchase wet-proof tops for their training sessions that take place every other Sunday at Eaton Park.

Ballymena Bears were formed in February 2012 to offer tag rugby to young people with learning disabilities.

They have over the course of the year grown in numbers and taken part in events across the province.

The new season in August began with the Bears welcoming the Paralympic flame to Cookstown and an early visit to play at Newforge Taggers got them off to a flier.

A trip to Donaghadee Sharkies followed and for the most part the weather has remained fair for training days allowing for some fun team games and rugby skills training.

The Bears have stopped for the worst of the Winter now, but will resume again on Sunday 3rd March. Anyone wishing to play or help would be most welcome to come along.

In the meantime more information can be found on Ballymena RFC’s web site or visit the Bears’ own Facebook page.
