Fifteen-year-old student Chanelle Moore has already raised over £500 for the children’s charity through just two events, last year - a Christmas Fair in November and a Dance Night in October.

Her biggest event so far, however, will take place this Saturday, March 5, in the Adair Arms Hotel.Tickets for the night, featuring popular band ‘Pure Blarney on stage at 10pm, are priced just £5 and available from the hotel or at the doors which will open at 8pm.

Chanelle’s proud mum, Martina, told the Times that as a young carer, Chanelle puts her social life on hold to help look after a loved one.

She said her teenage daughter simply wants to ‘give something back’ to Barnardos NI which provides support for young carers such as Chanelle.

Martina said: “Barnardos rely on public funds to help kids in similar situations to take them out on trips to help them get time out to themselves and meet people. This is Chanelle’s way of helping Barnardos to help other families in need.

“If it wasn’t for Barnardos Chanelle and other kids wouldn’t get on trips etc. The money she aims to raise will help other families in similar situations,” said Martina who added that she hoped people would support the event on Saturday night.

And, with only days to go until that fundraiser, the caring 15-year-old is already planning her next event which she hopes to hold in October.
