Declan Nerney relishes return to Tullyglass

DECLAN Nerney is riding the crest of a wave right now.

Not only was his recent hugely successful 2011 ‘Hooley in the Sun’ in Portugal booked out but his band has never been busier.

He is sure of a warm welcome when he appears at the Tullyglass House Hotel, Ballymena on Saturday night.

It’s some time since the popular Declan has performed there but he is planning an extra-special show.

“We are looking forward to going back to Tullyglass. We have many friends and followers in the Ballymena area and we expect to be meeting up with them all again,” Declan SAID.

Declan has achieved tremendous success in the recording sphere and is planning a new CD as well as a DVD. He still retains the same enthusiasm for travelling and playing that he showed when he first started out with his own band two decades ago.

“The years have flown but thankfully we are still performing and enjoying ourselves. It’s great to see that people are continuing to come out to country dances despite the recession. I am always surprised at the distances that folk are prepared to travel to see their favourite bands – they are all the more welcome because of this,” he added.

As well as having retained his popularity on the dancing circuit, Declan is in big demand for concert and cabaret shows although he admits that performing at dances is his first love.

“We were one of the first bands to play in the Tullyglass Hotel and we like to think we have a special affinity with the venue,” Declan added.

This will certainly be the case at this popular venue on Saturday night. It should be well worth a visit.
