Jimeoin back at Millennium Forum again

This year he plays the Derry/Londonderry venue on Saturday, November 7, and his usual live performance will be full to the brim with laugh-a-minute jokes and observations.

In fact, his show is often described as a ‘fluid mixture of his signature observations, with hawk eye dissection of more of the absurdities of life and how we live it’.

Anyone who has caught him live before, or watched one of his many performances on YouTube, will know that Jimeoin makes you laugh because you totally ‘get’ what he’s making fun of - and more often than not, you’ve done it yourself!

Speaking from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where he was testing his material ahead of his tour, Jimeoi said: “I never have anything set in stone, it’s not at all like a script.

“I have a few notes for the wording, but it’s a moving thing, doing comedy.

“It’s going well here in Edinburgh though so by the time I get to Derry in November a lot of it will have been tested.

“But it’s constantly changing too, and I’m constantly writing.”

This is his 23th Edinburgh Festival Fringe and he has performed to sell-out crowds around the world.

Before he hits the Derry stage Jimeoin will go back to Australia to his young family.

“I have four children, aged 13, 11, 8 and 3 - so going on tour is a breeze in comparison!

“But honestly, I love getting back home to Northern Ireland - and the Forum gig is so close to home that there will be a few cousins in the audience which is always great.

“I like the size of the Forum too, it’s an intimate venue, and the crowd are always up for a laugh, which helps!”

A recent review of one of his gigs summed the man up: “Northern Irish funny man Jimeoin is a rare thing in comedy; he is a stand up who can play the audience like a finely tuned instrument.

“The former builder can send a crowd into stitches with a mere raised eyebrow, or knowing nod of the head.

“There’s no wild flailing hands or shouting with Jimeoin, the Emerald Isle comic commands the crowd with subtlety.”
