New Events.etc brochure out NOW!

BALLYMONEY Borough Council has just released its new Events.etc brochure which gives details of arts and cultural events taking place in Ballymoney Town Hall from now until May.

Organised by Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee and the Council’s Cultural Services, the programme features a number of excellent music and drama events beginning on 28 January with Willie Drennan and his Ulster Scots Band who pay a tribute to Rabbie Burns and explore the Ulster Scots heritage through music, song and storytelling. On 24 March, Moving on Music present Buttons, Barrels and Bows, an evening with three of the finest Irish traditional players – Caoimhn Raghallaigh, Catherine McEvoy and Micheal Raghallaigh and on 15 April, Rosemary Hawthorne, otherwise known as The Knicker Lady, makes a welcome return to Ballymoney with her hilarious one woman show which romps through the history of the humble knicker.

Popular local historian S Alex Blair begins a new series of local history talks featuring the everyday life of the people of North Antrim and the changes which have occurred down the years. The series opens with Work on Wednesday 3 February and continues with Recreation on 25 February and Customs and Traditions on 30 March.

There are also a number of excellent exhibitions in the Museum and Town Hall over the coming months. Working the Causeway Landscape continues until the end of the January when it will be replaced by Collection: Recollection - a special exhibition celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Ballymoney Museum. In May, there are two excellent exhibitions - More Tuesday’s Threads, a beautiful display of patchwork by local quilters and Road Racing Nation – a celebration of motorcycling road racing.

The new series of courses gets up and running week beginning 25 January so if you feel like trying your hand at calligraphy, painting or creative writing, enrol now!
