Somme author for local library

A leading authority on medical services in World War One is to give a talk in Ballymena Library.

Dr. Yvonne McEwen from the University of Edinburgh will discuss ‘Sisters, Surgeons and Soldiers on the Somme: 144 days of casualty management on the Somme’ on Thursday, August 25 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm.

Dr. McEwen is the author of ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary: British and Irish nurses in the Great War’ (2006) and ‘In the company of nurses: the history of the British Army nursing service in the Great War’ (2014).
