Fitzsimons Opticians, situated on William Street, has been at the heart of the Ballymena community for several decades and has formed strong relationships with patients in and around the local area.

Following the retirement of the original owner, Jim Fitzsimons, in March 2023, the practice found new leadership under fellow colleague, John Broderick and his wife Louise, who had been working alongside Jim Fitzsimons since 2018.

In celebration of John’s first year as Director of Fitzsimons Opticians, the practice held a competition on their social media. The prize up for grabs was a pair of glasses up to the value of £500.

Mr Broderick said: “It has been an incredible first year since Jim entrusted me with the practice and we wanted to find a way to say thank you to all our patients and show our appreciation for their continued support.

“The whole team is really excited to see where we can improve our service further and continue to provide the best eyecare possible over the next year.”

Since taking over from his predecessor, John Broderick has maintained continuity at Fitzsimons Opticians, ensuring that the same values and high standards of eyecare are provided to patients.

Speaking on his decision to take on the role of Director at the practice, Mr Broderick added: “From my previous experience working in a variety of optical settings, Fitzsimons Opticians offers unparalleled care with a team of people that are continuously striving to improve vision quality in our local area.

“Moving forward, we hope to further cultivate these qualities, including modernising the eye testing equipment as well as updating and refreshing the practice.”
