Slideshow: Students achievements are recognised at St Patrick’s College prize night

Mrs Kate McGee, Principal of St Patrick’s College has used the school’s annual prize night to highlight the “outstanding” achievements by pupils in the recent examinations.

“We have already witnessed a number of past pupils receiving awards for their success in last year’s public examinations and I would like to highlight this afternoon just how outstanding these results were.”

She added that 64% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at A*-C, while 24 students achieved seven or more GCSEs at A*-C.

Sixteen students achieved at least eight GCSEs at these grades, while four achieved nine and two further students achieved ten.

In Year 11 eight pupils achieved Grade C or higher in GCSE Science (Single Award) leaving them free to focus on GCSE Additional Science in Year 12.

She added: “In an excellent year for our Modern Languages Department, 100% of the grades achieved in French and Polish were at A*-C.

“ In addition, we congratulate the three Sixth Form students who successfully completed both AS and A2 level Polish in one year.

“In fact, in nine subjects, there was a pass rate at A*-C of 75% and above, with four of those subjects achieving over 85% and three of them – English Literature, French, and Polish – achieving a 100% pass rate.

“The great success of our students at A Level continues.

“In eight of the ‘A’ Level courses taken by our students, they achieved a 100% success rate at Grades A*-C. At ‘A’ Level, 88% achieved A*-A in Art & Design, with five students achieving at the recently introduced A* grade.”
