Cinema launches discount scheme for young people

MOVIE House Glengormley has launched a new teen discount card, meaning local young people can now see the latest movies at extra low prices.

With the new card, young people aged 11 to 18 can purchase cinema tickets for just £4 - a saving of 33 per cent off the full adult ticket price. It can be used any day of the week on unlimited visits for an entire year.

The cards are being given out through participating post-primary schools and are also available free of charge through the box office at Movie House Glengormley.

“Many of our customers are young people and we wanted to make a visit to the cinema as affordable as possible,” said cinema owner, Michael McAdam. “Our Glengormley cinema is a local, community cinema - it’s where our company started out - and we wanted to trial this card here.

“We’d like to thank the schools who have supported us on this initiative,” he added.

Welcoming the introduction of the new discount card, Glengormley councillor John Blair commented: “This is a worthwhile initiative and I am very grateful to those involved in creating the scheme. This is a positive example of a local business working to include young people and give them a chance to participate at a concessionary rate.”
