Robert in walk to help beatParkinson’s

Former Lurgan Junior High School teacher Robert Jennett and his wife Pauline are undertaking a five-mile walk around Castle Ward in County Down on September 28 to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

The couple have already raised more than £15,000 for Parkinson’s UK through various fundraising challenges, and hope to add to that total when they take part in the Walk Castle Ward event.

Pauline, 61, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 40 and since then she and Robert, 60, have taken on a range of challenges to raise awareness of the condition.

Robert, who is secretary of the Armagh branch of Parkinson’s UK, says, “It came as a real shock because we always assumed that Parkinson’s was an old person’s condition.”

The walk follows a circular trail along the shoreline of Strangford Lough. Entry is £10, £5 for under 12’s. For more information contact Nicola on 0844 225 9847 or go to www.parkinsons.org.uk/content/walk-castle-ward
