Accused of making false 999 calls

A woman wept in the dock of Ballymena Magistrates Court as she was accused of wasting police time by making false reports to the PSNI and Ambulance Service.

Corrina Cully (44), of Railway Street, Ballymena, is accused of persistently making improper use of the 999 line between May and October this year.

And she is also accused of making false reports to the Police and Ambulance Service that an offence had been committed by various unknown people and making false statements giving rise to apprehension for her safety.

A police officer said he believed he could connect the accused to the charges.

He said Cully had a “significant history” of previous offending.

Releasing the accused on her own bail of £500, District Judge Peter King banned her from contacting the 999 number unless there is a genuine emergency. The case was adjourned until later this month.
