Chief Inspector Simon Ball advised: “There will be some traffic and travel disruption in the harbour area of Carrickfergus on Friday evening with a Royal Marines parade and display. Please expect traffic in the area to be busy from around 5:30pm until 8pm.

“The celebrations will switch to Ballymena on Saturday with a town centre parade finishing at the Showgrounds. Again, please expect traffic disruption between 10.30am and 12 noon for the parade and then after 5pm when the spectators disperse. Due to the high number of visitors expected we encourage people to use the Park and Ride facilities that the local Council have provided.

“Please report any suspicious activity to us, as always, on the non-emergency number 101, but please do expect the sound of gunfire between 9.30-10am and again in the middle of the afternoon if you live in the Ballymena Showgrounds area.”

Chief Inspector Ball concluded: “The weekend events will conclude with a church service in Larne on Sunday, however no traffic disruption is expected locally as a result of this event”
