Sinn Fein Councillor Mark O’Dowd has condemned the perpetrator and explained that he had spoken with the business owner who was just thankful that no one was hurt.

The councillor said:“This was a crime against the Taghnevan community and I would urge anyone with information about the robbery or the perpetrator to pass that information to the PSNI.

“The thief threatened the young female shop assistant before making off with a sum of money. Thankfully the assistant though badly shaken by the ordeal was not physically hurt.

“This thief showed contempt for a young person working to earn a few pound and for the local community which benefits from the service offered by this shop.”

Police are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact them in Lurgan on 0845 600 8000.
