Ballymena entries sought for Giving Extra Awards

The Ballymena Halifax branch is today helping to launch the Giving Extra Awards, a UK-wide search for people who go the extra mile to give something back.

The Giving Extra Awards are open for nominations throughout November and are looking for people who always go ‘above and beyond’ to help others.

This might be someone who helps in their community – who regularly does the gardening for a neighbour, volunteers as a carer, coaches the local youth sports team in their spare time, or perhaps visits an elderly person on their street; it might be someone who goes the extra mile for charity – by baking cakes or running a food bank; or perhaps someone who has instigated a car-pooling or babysitting club to help out other local families.

Nominations can be made in-branch at the Ballymena Halifax, or online www.halifax.co.uk/givingextraawards throughout November. The local winners will be announced during January 2014, and the national winner in February 2014.

The Halifax Giving Extra Awards are open for nominations until 6pm on Friday, November 29. If you would like to nominate someone who has gone the extra mile, please visit: www.halifax.co.uk/givingextraawards.

Nominations will be subject to a short-listing and judging process and 66 local Giving Extra winners will each be awarded with £250 vouchers.

Seven of these winners will be selected to represent their region and will be given £500 in vouchers and a £500 donation to a local good cause. The one national winner will be awarded £2,500 vouchers and a £5,000 donation to a local good cause.
