Ballymena Remembrance events

DETAILS of Remembrance events in Ballymena have been unveiled by the local branch of the Royal British Legion.

POPPY APPEAL

The Ballymena Branch Poppy Appeal will operate from November 5-12.

The Mayor will officially launch the Branch Appeal on Saturday 05 November at the Poppy Shop in the Services Club. The Poppy Shop will carry stocks of Poppies, Wreaths and other Poppy Appeal items. Static collection points will be situated in The Tower Centre and The Fairhill Centre by kind permission of the Centre Managers.

Collection Boxes and Poppy Trays will be distributed in shops, bars, hotels and many other public places. Collectors will also be present in retail outlets and Supermarkets. The Ballymena Poppy Shop can be contacted by Phone on 07900570524

Street Collections will take place on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November throughout the town.

Volunteer Collectors are always welcome. If you can help, please call into the Poppy Shop and speak to one of the Branch Members.

GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE

The Royal British Legion, as Custodians of Remembrance, promotes the Nations Observance of The two Minutes Silence on 11th of 11th at 1100.

Ballymena Branch Members will assemble at The Memorial Gardens on Friday 11 November at 1030 to Observe the Silence.

The Mayor has been invited and the Branch would ask that members of the public, wherever they are at 1100, please pause to Remember the Members of our Armed Forces who have made the ultimate Sacrifice.

Members of the public also invited to join the Branch and the Mayor in the Memorial Gardens

REMEMBRANCE

The Ballymena Branch in conjunction with the Borough Council will organize the Annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service on Sunday 13 November.

Legionnaires, Naval, Army and Royal Air Forces Associations should assemble at The Services Club at 0930hours. Emergency Services, Uniformed Youth Organisations are also warmly invited to attend and participate in the Parade.

The Parade, led by Castlegore Flute Band, will step of at 1025 and March to the Memorial Gardens via Trostan Avenue, Castle St, Bridge St, Waveney Road, Galgorm Road.

On arrival at the Memorial Gardens, a Service of Remembrance will commence at 1050. The Two Minutes Silence will be observed at 1100 to coincide with the National Act of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London. Following the Service Wreaths will be placed upon the War Memorials.

The Parade will then reform and March to St Patricks Parish Church to join the Congregation for Morning Worship. The route to St Patricks will be via Galgorm Road, Lower Mill Street, Wellington St, Church St and Castle Street

The Mayor will take the Salute at the Post Office on Wellington Street

Following the Church Service the Parade will again reform and March back to the Services Club. The return route will be Meeting House Lane, Demense Ave and Tardree Grove and Trostan Avenue.
