Beacon launch new prospectus

An event to showcase the work of the North East Beacon andlaunch its new autumn prospectus was held in the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine.

North East Beacon is part of the Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health (NIAMH) and provides support and services in adult mental health.

The Beacon provides day support that is not centre-based but uses voluntary and leisure facilities in Coleraine, Ballymoney and Moyle.

Individuals are referrred fro m the Community Mental Health Team and the aim of the service is to promote and support the recovery of hope and ambition for flourishing mental health.

The new and innovative service has been operating extremely successfully over the past year as evidenced by the displays at the Coleraine event.

Chief Executive of NIAMH, Peter McBride congratulated those receiving cerificates for courses provided by South West College: “The focus of the service on recovery journeys, enables indiviruals to enhance their local support networks and to feel part of something positive, worthwhile and fulfilling.”

Joy Hammond, Head of Mental Health OT, Northern Trust, was among the officials who attended: “The Trust welcome the opportunity to work with the voluntary sector to provide innovative recovery focused services,” she said.
