Broughshane ‘royalty’ sought

Are you called Stewart or White and have your ancestors lived in the Broughshane area for many generations?

White Hall, Broughshane.

If so then you might be descended from Scottish royalty!

Some work has been done in America on the family tree of Robert the Second, King of Scotland (1316 - 1390) and it is believed that his descendents married into the family of the Rev. Fulke White of Broughshane.

The Whites lived at White Hall in the village and are buried at First Presbyterian Church, Broughshane. There is a monument in the church grounds bearing the name of Rev. Fulke White dated 1662-24/8/1716 and featuring names of family members subsequently deceased.

Some of the family emigrated to South Carolina in 1767 aboard the Earl of Donegal and their descendants have been able to prove their connection to this family through a simple DNA test.

They are now looking for help from anyone in the Broughshane area called White or Stewart who knows that their family has lived there for many generations.

If that is the case they are offering a free DNA test as this would aid future research.

Unfortunately this test relies on DNA that is passed down the generations from father to son so only males are able to take the test which is carried out by collecting cheek cells so is very quick and totally painless.

Do you know anyone who would be a candidate to help? Or maybe you want more information?
