A £40 fine was imposed for failing to produce his driving licence.

The court heard that on May 22 at Pollock Drive he was seen holding the phone to his ear with his right hand.

Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said Smith had hands free in the car and lifted the phone to dial.

He added that the defendant was ringing his partner to say he was on his way home and to put the dinner on.

Mr Ingram added that he did not produce his
licence because he had other things on his
 mind.
