Cathal Mallaghan replaces Linda Dillon as chair of Mid Ulster council
Mallaghan, who was chair in the year the three legacy councils merged to create one Mid Ulster council, will be in the role until the council’s Annual General Meeting at the beginning of June.
The Pomeroy man, said: “I’m glad to have the opportunity to lead Mid Ulster council after doing it for the first time last year.

He went on to say, that in his first role as chair this morning he welcomed author Dan Freeman at Ranfurly House, as part of a series events to encourage children to use their imaginations in the run up to the launch of Seamus Heaney’s Homeplace in Bellaghy.
