Clarke seeks clarity over maintenance

BALLYMENA South Councillor Martin Clarke is hoping to clear up the confusion of which statutory body is responsible for what when it comes to estates’ maintenance in Ballee, Ballykeel and Harryville.

He raised the issue at the latest monthly meeting of Ballymena Borough Council last Monday night in the Braid and had it confirmed that a letter had been sent by their Chief Executive, Anne Donaghy, to NIHE, DRD Roads Service etc. calling for a discussion forum on the matter.

Speaking to The Times afterwards, Mr Clarke said: “When you ask for a green area in an estate to be cut, for example, it’s hard to find out who is responsible.

“It’s the same for pathways running between houses in estates when it comes to cleaning them.

“What I have asked for are colour coded maps for estates showing clearly who is responsible for what. I hope this will be brought up at the meeting that has been called for and if it is agreed that it will be rolled out to all the estates”.
