Cookstown Glens name cup after suddenly deceased former chair

In a fitting tribute following the death of a former chairman, Cookstown's Glentoran Supporters Club has decided to rename its player of the year trophy, the '˜Eric Graham Memorial Trophy'.

Eric, who had joined the club over 20 years ago, died suddenly at his home on January 29. At just 51, the shock around his passing was said to have “reverberated throughout Omagh and beyond”.

“Eric was a loving husband to Susan and doting father to Hannah and Rachael,” said a statement from Cookstown Glens.

Members were “still numb with shock as they visited the family home and acted as a guard of honour when Eric’s coffin was carried from Omagh Presbyterian Church, with the main man wearing his beloved Glentoran shirt and scarf”.

Cookstown Glens held an act of remembrance at their February meeting for Eric, while the renamed trophy will be presented this September for the first time at the Oval.
