To help, the council’s Environmental Health team has produced an event safety pack which provides organisers with best practice advice and a step-by-step guide to the health and safety considerations which must be taken into account when organising an event. The pack also includes a useful checklist and risk assessment pro forma to help event organisers in the planning stages.

Karen McCulloch, Environmental Health Officer, commented: “There are lots of community events on around this time of year and it is important that organisers recognise the potential health and safety risks associated with events. This pack will allow organisers to plan better and ensure they minimise the chances of any incidents happening that are easily avoidable.”
