Council says ‘No’ to Sunday racing but backs bill
Under the new proposals organisers could have two consecutive days of racing however they would have to give at least 48 hours notice before this could happen. At last Tuesday night’s Council meeting, DUP councillor Phyllis Fielding proposed that members accept the Road Races Amendments Bill, but called for no racing on Sundays. The proposal was seconded by Alliance councillor Barney Fitzpatrick and was agreed by all members.
Independent councillor Christine Alexander asked what the response had been from residents who lived on the course.

Hide AdKieran Doherty, Director of Environmental Services told the meeting that a bespoke consultation had taken place and that Sunday racing has been raised, he added that there was some ‘uncertainty’ amongst residents and that issues such as access for carers and medical personnel had been raised by residents.
