Cromore House goes on market

One of the north coast’s iconic buildings, Cromore House, on the outskirts of Portstewart, is up for sale.

Commercial real estate company, Colliers International, Belfast is inviting offers for the Grade A Listed Building in the region of £300,000.

Situated on a mature landscaped site of 1.94 acres the property has 37 bedrooms and ancillary accommodation.

Founded in the mid-18th century by John Cromie the stately house was remodelled in 1834 with the addition of two two-storey wings.

A further single storey addition was made on one elevation which became the entrance porch, joined to the principal block by a corridor.

The property was recently used as a nursing home run by Four Seasons Health Care who announced in April last year that it was closing the facility because it could not be refurbished to modern standards.

At the time the home had 13 residents and 32 staff. The company said that there had been “various planning issues and obstacles to a new build or refurbishment.”

On its website Colliers says that the house “lends itself to a number of potential alternate uses, subject to obtaining the necessary statutory planning consents.”
