He said: “We face a crisis in September 2014. On top of our accommodation problems our numbers will reduce by approximately 65 pupils and our budget by more than a quarter of a million. Of course we have been lobbying the politicians.

“In January 2012 we met with David Simpson, Stephen Moutray and Carla Lockhart of the DUP and Joanne Dobson and Kenneth Twyble of the UUP. In November 2012 we took our case to the Minister and the Department where we discussed the options for relocating the Lurgan campus of our school. All these meetings were about improving conditions for our pupils, not about dismantling the Dickson Plan.

“Despite the impression given in the media there is no-one at Craigavon Senior High School engaged in a campaign against the Dickson Plan. We want to serve the interests of the pupils at our school but we also want a system that is fair to everyone. Surely that should be the aim of everybody in the community.”
