Darkness into light - walk for suicide awareness

A NEW group that aims to address suicide in Ballymena is organising a special ‘Darkness into light’ walk.

Ballymena’s first ever Darkness into light walk aimed at raising awareness of suicide is being held on September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day.

The group, Ballymena Action on Suicide Awareness has been formed by a number of residents from the local community to help raise the issue of suicide in the Borough.

BASA gathered from supported from all over the town and starting to grow with the right people and working with all agencies that they can.

World Suicide Prevention Day is an awareness day observed on September 10 every year, in order to provide worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides, with various activities around the world.

Meeting at the Bandstand, Wellington Street, Ballymena at 4.45am sharp and ending at the Adair Arms Hotel. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join in with the walk which is the first of its kind in Ballymena.

There will be a special guest performance by Alecia Kerr, the UK’s No 1 tribute to Pink performing live.

The walk is being financially support by the Public Health Agency and managed by the North Antrim Community Network.

To celebrate the launch of BASA’s brand new website, they are also holding a Funked Out Reunion night at the Big House on August 31.

Bringing back SHEEP T and some of Ballymena’s very own finest DJs for one night only, all in aid of the Basa Ballymena ‘Darkness Into Light’ walk. Doors open 7pm to late with tickets £7 or pay at the door.
