Delegation to attend Sister Cities event in New Mexico

COUNCILLORS are to decide who will represent Larne at a global conference in the US in the summer.

The local authority, which is twinned with Clover town and York County in South Caroline, has acquired funding to enable participation in the Sister Cities International annual conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 29-31 at a cost per delegate of $475 (310.73 at the time of writing).

Councillors at a development committee in March nominated DUP deputy mayor Cllr Gregg McKeen, Ald Roy Beggs (UUP), independent member Roy Craig, Alliance councillor Gerardine Mulvenna and two council officers, but at the April monthly meeting last week both Cllr Brian Dunn (UUP) and Ald Beggs said they believed the next mayor and deputy should also represent the borough.
