On each of three charges of having a child under 12 in the car without a child restraint she was fined 25 and banned from driving for three months.

The court heard that police saw a car parked in Rampart Street with three young children in the rear. There were no child seats and none of them were wearing seat belts.

The defendant admitted she had no insurance and produced a provisional driving licence.

Inquiries revealed she had been disqualified from driving on September 17 at Craigavon court.

Mr Pat Vernon, representing the defendant, said Irwin had been disqualified just a couple of weeks before this incident.

He added that she did not recall getting a letter from the court to say she was disqualified.

Mr Vernon said the seat belts were in place when she left the house but during the journey the kids had got themselves loose from the belts.

District Judge, Mr Alan White, warned Irwin if she appeared before him again for driving while disqualified she would go to prison.
