Doing the business and going green in Magherafelt

A RENEWABLE Energy Networking Project covering the Magherafelt District Council area will help build green enterprise.

The project has been awarded €390,047 under INTERREG IVA Programme and it aims to establish a network of businesses and individuals who are involved in or wish to get involved in the green economy or renewable energy sector.

The project will be delivered under the auspices of the North West Region Cross Border Group and will be a collaboration of the five local authorities in the region - Donegal, Derry, Limavady, Magherafelt and Strabane Councils.

InvestNI, InterTrade Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and Donegal County Enterprise Board will provide advice to the project.

A network of 15-20 businesses will be set up in each of the areas. Members will meet monthly and identify new opportunities for the green economy and renewable energy sector, receive expert advice, training and support for their business with the aim of increasing its profitability.

The project will run for three years, allowing time to build a strong and successful network of green enterprises in the region. Local networks will also meet on a regional basis throughout the project lifetime and there will be a number of international best practice visits.

Members are being sought for this exciting new networking project including small/micro businesses (employing less than 50 people) or individuals engaged in renewable energy or the green economy or those wishing to get involved in this growing sector.
