Door knocking project launched with Trust

A total of 12 young people from across the Borough are taking part in a door knocking campaign promoting recycling in the central Craigavon area.

The scheme is part of a Prince’s Trust team building programme for unemployed young people aged between 16-25 years wishing to enhance their life skills.

The campaign, delivered in conjunction with Craigavon Borough Council and Southern Regional College, is due to begin on Tuesday and will run for a maximum of two weeks close to the Princes Trust facility in Craigavon.

The project will involve the young people going door to door and speaking to residents to encourage them to recycle more waste using their mixed dry and organic waste schemes.

Particular emphasis will be placed on recycling of food waste and residents will be provided with literature, contact information and compostable biobags as well as being asked to take part in a short survey.

The Prince’s Trust delivers a range of programmes tailored to meet local needs, and last year worked with nearly 70 Local Authorities, across seven central government departments and three European agencies.
