Down's and Proud fundraiser

LOCAL charity Down's and Proud will host its annual fundraising event in the Woodville Arms on Saturday, May 1.

The day kicks off with a children’s fun day including a fancy dress disco, a Punch and Judy show, a magician and a short awareness video on Down’s Syndrome.

“Each year the children’s fun day has got bigger and better and hopefully this year another big crowd will come out and support this very worthy cause,” said Aine Beatty, whose son Jay was born with Down’s Syndrome.

Later that night it’s the turn of the adults with this year’s fancy dress disco theme being ‘My Generation’. Any old or young mods, punks, skinheads, rockers, teddy boys, hippies who are up for a good laugh and a trip down memory lane should come along.

There will be prizes for best dressed and a raffle with loads of great prizes to be won. This year, to get the party started early, there will also be a quiz from 8pm to 9.30pm and again there will be prizes for the winners and losers.

Aine continued: “We can also confirm that ‘The King’ has not left the building and Bunion will once again be squeezing into the white suit for the grand finale.”

She added: “This charity fundraiser is now in its sixth year and the Beatty family would like to acknowledge all their family and friends and sponsors who have all done so much over those years including the management and staff of the Woodville Arms.”

Tickets for the children’s disco priced at 2.50 and the adults’ disco priced at 5 are available from the Woodville or by contacting 0784 184 7346 or 0777 622 0232.
