Focus on fitness for charity

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland has teamed up with Scott McGarry Health and Fitness, Ballymena, for a six week health and fitness challenge to help you improve your health - and raise vital funds to support local cancer patients.
Suzie Colledge of Cancer Focus joined Chris, David and Geoff from Scott McGarry Health & Fitness at last week's launch of the Focus Fit Challenge, six week fitness programme where volunteers raise funds for Cancer Focus during a six week programme. The event, which start at Scott McGarry Health & Fitness on October 19th, raised £8500 last year. Scott McGarry, gym owner and personal trainer, said: “We are really excited to have joined forces again with our local cancer charity, Cancer Focus NI.”

The Focus Fit challenge will begin on October 19 and is designed to create a healthy change in your life, with full support and advice on fitness and healthy eating.

Suzie Colledge, community fundraising officer, Cancer Focus NI, said: “We are so excited to bring Focus Fit to Ballymena for the second time.

“Our previous Focus Fit group raised an incredible £8,500 and the participants were really pleased with their weight loss and improved fitness levels.

“Focus Fit is free to enter but we are asking you raise £300 in sponsorship for Cancer Focus NI. There will be an overall winner of the Focus Fit challenge based on class attendance, overall improvements in health and at the end, for the most money raised. All the money you raise will be spent on the services we provide in the local community.”

Anyone who would like to take part is asked to contact the fundraising team by emailing [email protected] or call 028 9066 3281.
