At the outset of the Borough Council’s May meeting, last Tuesday, First Citizen Cr Billy Ashe highlighted Carrick Rangers’ attainment of a domestic “treble” having won the Intermediate Cup, the Belfast Telegraph Championship 1 and the Steel & Sons Cup; also Ahoghill Rovers’ winning the Saturday morning McAuley Cup; and, most recently, Harryville Homers’ Irish Junior Cup win.

In response to a call from Cr John Carson that a civic reception be held to mark the Homers’ retention of the Junior Cup, Mayor Ashe said he intended to host receptions for each of the teams in the relevant parlour within the borough.
